Our Story : How MasRic Health Began Supporting the Geelong Community
A Family Story That Became a Calling
Here’s what matters to us:
MasRic Health didn’t begin in an office…it began at home, shaped by love and necessity.
Masego grew up in Botswana with two brothers who taught her everything she knows about what real support looks like. One brother lives with an intellectual disability. The other was in an accident that left him with limited mobility. In a place where formal disability services were scarce, her family did what families do. They figured it out together. They created routines that gave structure. They adapted their home to provide safety. They found ways to preserve dignity when systems weren’t there to help.
Those years weren’t easy, but they planted something deep in Masego: a conviction that the right support, given with respect and consistency, can genuinely change someone’s life.
When Masego later settled in Australia, she saw something powerful in her local community. The way the NDIS could wrap consistent, person-centred supports around people living with disabilities, helping them build confidence at home, connect in the community, and take steady steps toward their goals. The contrast between what her brothers had to navigate and what she witnessed here became a clear purpose. MasRic Health was created to offer that same dependable, human-centred support to families across Geelong and the Surf Coast.

Why Geelong? Because Community Actually Matters
We didn’t choose Geelong randomly. This region has something special. From the heart of Geelong to the beaches of the Surf Coast, local schools welcome everyone. Community centres run inclusive programs. Neighbourhood groups actually mean it when they say “all are welcome.”
MasRic Health’s job is to help participants be part of that. We’re here to be a steady presence so participants and families feel genuinely supported, not stretched thin. We are easy to reach, consistent in showing up, and clear in our communication.
Our Vision: Dignity, Consistency, and Real Care
Support built around the person. Your plan should reflect your goals, your preferences, your culture, your family’s rhythms. And when life changes (because it does), your plan should flex with you.
Consistency you can count on. Familiar faces. Predictable visits. Useful updates that actually help. When you know what to expect, trust builds. And with trust, participants feel safe enough to try something new, bounce back from setbacks, and keep moving forward at their own pace.
Dignity in everything. Support isn’t a checklist we tick off. It’s a relationship where your choices matter and your privacy is respected. For some people, independence looks like preparing a meal and cleaning up on their own. For others, it’s attending a community class without anxiety, handling a medical appointment calmly, or mastering the bus route until it becomes second nature.
We recognize progress the way families do and those are in small, meaningful steps that add up to real independence.
What MasRic Health Looks Like in Real Life
The best way to understand what we do is to picture an ordinary day.
Morning might start with unhurried help getting ready by making breakfast together and talking through the day ahead. Mid-morning could mean heading to a class, running errands at the shops, or going to a medical appointment, with your support worker right there helping you build social confidence and practical skills.

Afternoons might focus on tidying up together, setting up routines that make the week easier, or learning a new skill at home. This can be something you’ve wanted to try or something that’ll make daily life smoother. Evenings are often about winding down gently and planning for tomorrow so you wake up knowing what to expect.
And when carers need a break? That’s where respite comes in. This can be a few hours or overnight, whatever it is that gives families breathing room while participants continue with safe, familiar routines.
Across every service, our aim stays the same: practical help with a warm, human touch that feels personal, not clinical.
What “Support with Heart” Actually Feels Like
Families who work with MasRic often tell us about the same things:
There’s a sense of calm when a familiar worker walks through the door. Relief when they realize they don’t have to re-explain everything every single week. Pride when their loved one masters something new—chopping vegetables safely, saying hello to a neighbor, arriving on time for an appointment. Gratitude when respite gives them a real break, not just time to catch up on chores but actual rest. And reassurance when our team follows up, adjusts the plan when needed, and keeps things moving at a human pace.
That’s what we’re here for—those moments that matter.
Why Local Families Trust Us
Trust isn’t built with big promises. It’s built in the small details.
Showing up on time because your time matters. Keeping notes that are actually clear and helpful. Adjusting things quickly when something isn’t working, without making a big deal about it. Nurturing the relationships that click—when a participant connects especially well with a particular worker, we protect that bond.

Behind the scenes, we keep routines steady and communication with families and coordinators open. Because here’s the thing: people need to feel safe before they can try something new. Reliability creates that safety. Safety creates space for growth.
Shaped by Real Life, Not Just Theory
MasRic Health is guided by real family experience across two continents. Masego’s brothers, who navigated life without formal supports. Her nephews, who thrived when the right services wrapped around them.
Those stories shape how we work today. We show up on time. We bring patience on the hard days. We celebrate the small wins. And we treat every person the way we’d want our own loved ones treated and that is with dignity, respect, and genuine care.
Getting Started Is Easy
Most families start with a simple conversation. We’ll talk about your goals, your routines, what times work best. Then we’ll suggest a plan that will fit your mornings, afternoons, evenings, even weekends if that helps.
The first visits start small to build comfort. We review regularly so the focus stays clear and progress feels achievable, not overwhelming.
Serving Geelong & the Surf Coast
We support NDIS participants across Waurn Ponds, Grovedale, Highton, Armstrong Creek, central Geelong, and the Surf Coast. Being local means we know the programs, the classes, the parks, and the community events that help participants feel connected. It also means we can be flexible when your schedule changes.
Our Promise to You
We promise to show up, be kind, and be dependable. To listen and adapt. To protect your dignity while helping you move toward your goals.
It’s a simple promise because it’s personal: to offer the kind of support Masego once wished every family could access. Support that’s close to home, genuinely personal, responsive to your needs, and deeply human.
